Frequently asked questions
I haven't had time to clean the house and someone wants to see it. Should I allow the showing even if the house isn't in its best condition?

Most agents will agree that showing the house to a potential buyer is more important than the house being in perfect condition. Buyers may only see a limited number of homes before purchasing so each showing is important. There may be factors they see in your home that allow them to see past any cosmetic issues.

What about pets? My dogs are friendly and don't bother people.

Even friendly pets can sometimes be a problem. Not all buyers like pets, and even friendly pets may distract them during a showing. If practical consider leaving a dog with a neighbor or place them in a kennel during showings. May sure if an animal will be in the house that showing agents are informed about them.

Should I be at home when my house is shown?

Most realtors advise sellers not to be at home during showings. Some buyers get nervous if the sellers are present during showings and may not see the house in its best light. Take a walk, go to the store or visit friends during showings and allow the house to speak for itself.
